Developed by IrrigationNZ, the Blue Tick Accreditation Programme is a rigorous framework that ensures accredited providers meet the highest standards in water measurement. These standards have never been more important. Under the Resource Management (Measurement and Reporting of Water Takes) Amendment Regulations 2020, permit holders taking 5 litres per second (L/s) or more must measure water use every 15 minutes and electronically submit these records daily to their regional council. Historically, data accuracy has been a challenge, with reports highlighting “poor and irregular quality” information supplied to councils - limiting its usefulness for compliance and catchment management (Ministry for the Environment, Measurement and Reporting of Water Takes factsheet).
